History of Woodside Bible Church

Woodside Bible Church was founded in 1955, when Pastor Harold Moran built the first evangelical church in Troy, Michigan, in response to a divine calling.

Back then, people gathered in homes to study and worship God’s Word, with the prayer that God would employ them to share the gospel’s transformative message.

  • After ten years of devoted service, Pastor Moran was replaced by Pastors David Andersen and Marvin Turner.
  • After three years of searching, the church family gave thanks to God in 1991 for sending Pastor Doug Schmidt to Woodside Bible Church and for giving him a vision for our future.
  • In 2005, Woodside combined with a Warren church that was having financial difficulties and about to close, realizing the goal of becoming a multi-site church.
  • The Woodside Bible Church family would be formed by the first of numerous reunions and church plants.
